Ensuring Your Pup's Safety During the Winter Months

​As the winter months approach, it's important to ensure that your furry friend is safe and comfortable during the colder season. Here are some tips to help keep your pup safe during the winter:

1. Dress them appropriately: Just like humans, dogs get cold too. If your pup has short hair or is a breed that is not suited to cold weather, consider getting them a sweater or coat to keep them warm during walks.  These are a few of my favorites Fun Puppy Coats
2. Protect their paws: Salt and other de-icing agents used on sidewalks and roads can be harmful to your dog's paws. Consider investing in booties to protect their paws or wiping them down with warm water after walks. Pet safe ice melt is definitely a must at our house! 
3. Keep them hydrated: Although it may be cold outside, your dog still needs to stay hydrated. Make sure they have access to fresh water at all times and consider warming it up for them if it's particularly cold.
4. Be cautious of frozen bodies of water: Although it may look tempting for your pup to walk on frozen bodies of water, it's important to be cautious. Thin ice can easily break and lead to dangerous situations for both you and your dog.
